WARM exhibition coming to Create

From Saturday 18 February alongside RealRefurbs Insulation & Draughtproofing event and house exhibit

WARM: Creating Energy Efficient Homes is an exhibition which provides an introduction to improving the energy efficiency of older homes. It examines how to adapt the different elements of our houses to reduce energy use - from simple and cheap solutions to major refurbishment projects.

The WARM exhibition also highlights where changes may need special consents, for instance for listed buildings and in conservation areas, and points you towards sources of further information and is part of the council’s City Design Initiative to promote better urban design in all Bristol’s neighbourhoods.   This exhibition was shown at the Architecture Centre in November 2011 and will be exhibited at Create until Tuesday 3 April.

Programme highlights:

Victorian terrace house structural exhibit now in the Gallery victorian house

PLUS free Saturday advice sessions (21 Jan, 18 Feb, 17 March)

Urban Design Build’s large scale model of the ground floor and roof section of a Victorian house (recently exhibited at Grand Designs Birmingham) is now on show at Create until 28 March.  It forms the backdrop for an exhibition and practical demonstrations by ‘RealRefurbs’ exploring issues related to refurbishing a solid wall terrace property.  Over the next few weeks the house will be transformed live ‘in situ’ beginning with a look at repairs, maintenance and low-cost options, moving on to insulation and finishing with a look at solar and renewable energy.

Create and the Ecohome will be open on the Saturday of Bristol Green Doors weekend (Saturday 17 March) as part of a trail of open homes and advice events across the city.  Visitors will be able to find out first hand, from homeowners and experts, how practical changes can improve the energy efficiency and comfort of our homes.
